We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic PYP National Program Coordinator to join our collaborative and vibrant teaching team starting in August 2025.
Position Overview
The National Program Coordinator is responsible for leading and enhancing the teaching and learning of these subjects within the Primary Years Programme (PYP). This role works in close collaboration with the PYP Coordinator to ensure these subjects align with the school’s mission, PYP framework, and Qatar National Curriculum standards. The Coordinator supports teachers, ensures cultural and linguistic excellence, and promotes Islamic values and Qatari heritage throughout the school community.
Key Responsibilities
* Curriculum Development and Implementation
* Develop and maintain the Qatar History, Islamic Studies, and Arabic curricula in alignment with both the PYP framework and Qatar Ministry of Education standards.
* Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator to integrate inquiry-based and transdisciplinary approaches within these subjects.
* Ensure learning experiences emphasize cultural heritage, Islamic values, and language acquisition while fostering international-mindedness.
* Review and update teaching materials and resources to ensure they are current, relevant, and aligned with learning objectives.
* Instructional Support
* Support teachers in planning and delivering effective, engaging lessons that reflect best practices in PYP pedagogy and subject-specific teaching methods.
* Provide targeted feedback through regular classroom observations and coaching sessions.
* Assist in the integration of technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning experiences.
Ministry of Education
* Liaises with the MOEHE to ensure effective and expedient communication, whilst
building strong and positive relationships with key MOEHE personnel.
* Ensures the accuracy of communication of information for the purposes of MOEHE
inspections, ensuring all required paperwork is completed and that information has
been reviewed by the Director of school.
* Translates MOEHE circulars when necessary to ensure that non-Arabic speaking school leaders are able to advise on requests and replies.
* Ensures all communication with MOEHE is carried out using the official email ID and
responses are sent copying in the dedicated staff members. Works closely with colleagues to ensure all MOEHE documentation is supplied to
inspectors in a timely fashion.
* Manages the log and filing of all MOEHE related documentation.
* Undertakes any other reasonable administrative duties as and when required and
work with all other staff members closely to achieve common organisational goals
Teacher Professional Development
* Identify professional development needs and organize workshops and training sessions for Qatar History, Islamic Studies, and Arabic teachers.
* Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator to facilitate cross-subject collaboration and ensure cohesive instructional practices.
* Promote ongoing reflective practice and continuous improvement among teaching staff.
Assessment and Reporting
* Develop and implement effective assessment strategies that align with PYP principles and Ministry of Education requirements.
* Support teachers in analyzing student performance data to inform instruction and intervention strategies.
* Ensure accurate reporting and communication of student progress to parents and school leadership.
Collaboration and Community Engagement
* Work closely with the PYP Coordinator and other Subject Leads (and stakeholders) to ensure a holistic approach to student learning.
* Foster a positive, collaborative environment that celebrates Qatar’s heritage and Islamic values.
* Engage with the broader school community through events and initiatives that highlight the importance of Qatar History, Islamic Studies, and Arabic.
* Lead and facilitate the planning of whole-school cultural and religious events in collaboration with the Service Learning Lead, (ex:Quran Competition, Garangao, and Qatar National Day etc.) ensuring these events reflect the school’s values and foster a sense of community and cultural pride.
Qualifications and Skills
* Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arabic, Islamic Studies, or related field.
* Master’s degree preferred.
* Experience:
* Minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience in Qatar History, Islamic Studies, or Arabic.
* Prior experience with Ministry of Education processes and working in a similarly large school leadership or coordination role is necessary.
Skills:
* Strong understanding of the IB framework and inquiry-based learning.
* Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively and foster professional relationships.
* High Proficiency in Arabic and medium in English (spoken and written).
* Cultural sensitivity and commitment to promoting Qatari heritage and Islamic values.
NOTES:
-Teaching Certification / Bachelor’s Degree (must be a face-to-face qualification - online qualifications are not recognised by Qatar).
-Teaching couples must be married as per Qatari work visa requirements.
-Clear criminal record and background check.
-Clear medical history for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and Tuberculosis.
