There is currently a unique exciting opportunity for a Technical Lead with a Firefighting Equipment and Escape background. So if you can demonstrate technical engineering knowledge of Firefighting Equipment and Systems in a Safety Critical Environment this maybe the perfect opportunity for you.
You will be responsible for advising the SubSys Engineering System Owner on the approval of the design and build acceptance of Firefighting and Escape Systems (including all fixed arrangements and portable stores) integrated into the Dreadnought Class submarines.

What you’ll be doing:
You will be responsible for the delivery of assurance to the Platform Authority of the capability and performance of Fire Fighting Equipment, Fire Detection Systems, Emergency Breathing Systems and Escape and Rescue Equipment.
Working very closely with stakeholders from both the Dreadnought Alliance and other organisations including ship builder, project planners and other subject matter experts you will be:
1. Technical Problem Solving often coupled with appropriate management planning abilities
2. Producing technical documents in the assessment of system capability or performance
3. Undertaking assessments of supportability and maintainability
4. Providing expert advice and guidance in own technical area to solve complex technical problems and identify risks
5. Assessing and advising on system design change, defects, contract requirements and management of hazards
6. Maintaining and when appropriate, writing systems guidance documents in support of projects and industry
7. Overseeing decisions which will impact the submarine capability in the future including support, future development and maintainability
8. Ensuring the submarine is safe, delivered on time and to budget on behalf of the customer
Who we’re looking for:

Firefighting Equipment and Escape experience across a broad spectrum of industries will be considered as well as those with Category B Submarine Operator experience.
9. Engineering knowledge and experience of Fixed firefighting systems
10. Strong Stakeholder Management capabilities, familiar dealing with stakeholders at all levels
11. An understanding of concession management.
12. Awareness of design configuration control.
13. Awareness of Technical Requirements, Evaluation & Acceptance
14. Awareness of build quality assurance activities and acceptance processes.
15. Qualification in an Engineering related subject or equivalent experience in industry

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
