A specialist college in Edgware is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a meaningful impact on students with complex needs.
About the Role:
This is a rewarding and hands-on role where you will support students with significant learning and physical disabilities, ensuring they receive the care, encouragement, and tailored support they need to thrive.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
1. Providing Personalised Support – Work one-to-one or in small groups to meet individual learning needs.
2. Assisting with Communication & Sensory Development – Use PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication methods to support students with limited verbal communication.
3. Supporting Personal Care Needs – Assist with feeding, toileting, and mobility where required (full training provided).
4. Encouraging Independence & Life Skills – Help students develop essential skills for daily living and social interaction.
5. Creating a Safe & Engaging Learning Environment – Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement learning strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Experience working with students with Severe ASD and PMLD (preferred but not essential).
2. A caring, patient, and proactive approach.
3. Willingness to assist with personal care and mobility support.
4. Strong communication skills to engage with non-verbal students.
5. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply).
6. Eligibility to work in the UK.
