Newly Qualified Solicitor – Criminal Defence

About Us:
We are a well-established and respected criminal defence solicitor firm based in Exeter. We are currently preparing for trial a high-profile defence case and are seeking a passionate and driven Newly Qualified Solicitor or recent graduate to join our dynamic team.
The Role:
As a Newly Qualified Solicitor, you will be working on a high-profile criminal defence case, collaborating closely with our firm's partners and instructed King’s Counsel and junior barrister. You will gain hands-on experience in case preparation, client liaison, and court clerking (the candidate will be prepared to base themselves in the North West for the duration of the trial, dates to be fixed). This role is a fixed-term position for at least the duration of 2025, with a view to a longer-term role as duty solicitor in Exeter.

Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting with the preparation and management of high-profile criminal defence cases.
* Liaising with clients, witnesses, and other legal professionals like the CPS.
* Reading and analysing high volumes of case material.
* Attending court hearings as required.
* Building strong client relationships and taking client instructions.
Requirements:
* Excellent communication, research, and analytical skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* A proactive and team-oriented approach, with a willingness to learn and develop.
* Prior experience in Criminal Law (preferred but not essential).
