The Treasurer plays a vital role in ensuring the sound financial management of Victoria Hall Harrow. Working closely with our dynamic CEO and the Board of Trustees, the Treasurer will oversee all financial matters, providing strategic guidance and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices. This is a fantastic opportunity for a financially skilled individual to contribute to a vibrant community organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
1. To support the CEO to prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Trustees, including management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
2. Support the CEO in monitoring income and expenditure against budget, identifying and addressing any variances.
3. Oversee the annual audit process and ensure compliance with charity accounting standards (SORP).
4. Support the CEO in overseeing the charity's bank accounts and investments, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
5. Financial Planning and Strategy:
o Contribute to the development of the charity's strategic plan, providing financial input and analysis.
o Support the CEO in developing and monitoring annual budgets, ensuring alignment with the charity's strategic objectives.
o Advise the Board on financial matters, including risk management, fundraising strategies, and investment opportunities.
6. Governance and Compliance:
o Work with the accountant to ensure a smooth and efficient independent inspection process.
o Contribute to the development and review of financial policies and procedures.
7. Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with the CEO and other Board members to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
o Attend and actively participate in Board meetings, approximately 6 per year, plus preparation time and ad-hoc duties. Meetings are typically held in the evenings and can be arranged flexibly.
