This level is applicable to experienced teaching assistants whose working role calls for a competence across a varied range of responsibilities.
To support the teaching staff in the development and education of pupils including the provision of specialist skills as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare learning materials.
2. Adapt teaching support according to pupil's needs.
3. Look after children's physical, social and emotional welfare.
4. Create an inclusive environment for children.
5. Maintain and keep records of pupil progress and attend review meetings.
6. Liaise with all stakeholders as appropriate.
7. Incorporate Individual Pupil targets into daily teaching and learning.
8. Work in partnership with the class teacher, staff, parents, and other professionals to support children’s development.
9. Maintain the Pathways environment and resources, both inside and outdoors.
10. Plan a range of activities for children in accordance with their different stages of development and individual needs.
11. Use knowledge of the early education curriculum, systematic synthetic phonics, and other suitable teaching strategies to support learning in reading, early literacy, and maths.
12. Identify the needs, interests, and stages of development of individual children.
13. Promote diversity, equality and inclusion.
14. Act in accordance with legal requirements and statutory guidance on health and safety, child protection, safeguarding, security, and confidentiality.
15. Support intimate care routines suitable to the needs of each child.
16. Promote health and wellbeing throughout all practice and activities.
17. Support the class teacher and SENCO to maintain accurate records and share information as required.
18. Ensure adequate supervision of children and maintain a safe learning environment.
19. Work co-operatively with the reception teacher and other staff members as well as relevant professionals.
20. Liaise closely with parents to support their child’s health, wellbeing, learning and development.
21. Engage in relevant CPD opportunities.
22. Attend school PDMs as required.
23. Support the class teacher and SENCO with assessment.
24. Discuss the progress and attainment of each child and help to plan next stages in their learning.
25. Observe and report on pupil performance.
26. Contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
27. Assist in preparing and maintaining the learning environment.
28. Contribute to the management of pupil’s behaviour.
29. Support the maintenance of pupil’s safety and security.
30. Supervise the whole class for a short time in an emergency.
31. Undertake routine general marking in line with school policy.
32. Provide general administrative support.
33. Support the use of information and communication technology in the classroom.
34. Perform other duties as the Headteacher may determine.
35. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
36. Ensure all tasks are carried out with due regard to health and safety.
37. Undertake appropriate professional development.
38. Adhere to the ethos of the school and promote its vision and aims.
39. Set an example of personal integrity and professionalism.
40. Attend appropriate staff meetings and parents’ evenings if requested.
41. Any other duties as commensurate within the grade.
