The Adult Learning Disabilities Support Worker provides essential care and support to individuals with learning disabilities, enabling them to live as independently and inclusively as possible. You will assist with daily living activities, promote social inclusion, and encourage personal development while ensuring their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support with Daily Living:
1. Assist clients with personal care, including dressing, bathing, and toileting as needed.
2. Support with meal preparation, medication administration, and household tasks.
3. Help manage personal finances and budgeting.
2. Encouraging Independence:
1. Promote the development of life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and managing schedules.
2. Support clients in accessing education, employment, or volunteering opportunities.
3. Promoting Social Inclusion:
1. Organize and participate in recreational and social activities tailored to individual interests.
2. Accompany clients to community events, appointments, or leisure activities.
4. Health and Safety:
1. Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of clients, recognizing and responding to any potential risks.
2. Follow health and safety protocols, including manual handling and infection control procedures.
5. Person-Centered Care:
1. Develop and implement personalized care plans based on individual needs, preferences, and goals.
2. Work collaboratively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to review and update care plans regularly.
6. Record Keeping and Communication:
1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of daily activities, progress, and any incidents.
2. Communicate effectively with team members, families, and external agencies.
Required Skills and Attributes:

Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years experience working with learning disabilities.
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and person-centered care principles is beneficial.
* Practical medication training.
* Practical moving and handling.
Additional Requirements:
* A valid driver’s license (if driving is required for the role).
* Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
