We have an exciting opportunity for a career-minded person to join our Mill Green (Hatfield) team as an Electrical and Mechanical Technician.
Focused mainly on electrical maintenance, you will perform a range of front-line maintenance and operational activities on sewage pumping stations in Hertfordshire.
Work in multidisciplinary teams responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
This role offers a chance to make a positive environmental impact by helping reduce pollution from our sites and networks.
Responsibilities
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs promptly to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
* Install, modify, and commission new equipment; diagnose and repair faults in systems and plants.
* Provide technical advice, stay updated with technical knowledge, and support training for trainees if needed.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, measurement systems, PLCs, drives, and chemical dosing equipment.
* Maintain safety standards and comply with health and safety procedures.
* Location: Mill Green (Hatfield), AL9 5PE.
* Work hours: 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm, with participation in a 1-in-6-week out-of-hours standby rota with additional pay.
Candidate Requirements
* Time-served apprentice with significant electrical systems experience in a multi-skilled capacity, preferably with an electrical apprenticeship.
* Experience in maintaining, testing, installing, and fault diagnosing electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
* Desirable: ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues; training in confined spaces required.
* Valid driving license.
