We have a great opportunity for a Project Support Officer to support our Skills and Employability teams!
Our Skills & Employability team's purpose is to improve people’s lives through learning and training, leading to employment and/or increased personal fulfilment, supporting the growth of Staffordshire’s economy and society.
Working within the Digital Infrastructure team you will be leading the deployment of new digital services, supporting mainly the Skills and Employment teams.
The digital infrastructure team requires additional resource to manage the procurement, the supply and deployment of a new virtual reality/ extended reality service to enhance adult learning, teenager training, and job training in Staffordshire.
This role is flexible working between Staffordshire Place 1 and home working. It is initially a fixed 18 month term, which will be reviewed depending upon the success of the main programme.
Main Responsibilities
In this role you'll:
1. be required to work across the Skills & Employability service with the Digital Infrastructure Team to provide project plans.
2. lead in the effective management of programmes by monitoring and reporting on project activities, timescales, budgets and resources.
The Digital Infrastructure Team is looking to develop a number of programmes to support the deployment of a new ICT service, but the main responsibility will be around the virtual reality/extended reality programme.
This will include:
1. Being responsible for providing programmes and project plans for the main elements of the EI&S teams’ functions, including, skills and employability projects and business and enterprise projects.
2. Assisting in the effective management of programmes by monitoring and reporting on project activities timescales, budgets and resources.
3. Developing, monitoring and maintaining change control systems; including reporting on whether required actions have been carried out to ensure effective programme and project delivery.
4. Establishing consistent quality control, practices and standards and appropriate programme governance, including, project planning, reporting, analysing risks and maintaining programme / project risk registers.
5. Responsibility for ensuring project status, issues and risks are communicated to relevant officers / boards to ensure the effective resolution and timely delivery of projects.
6. Assisting with the production of business cases to support the development of projects by collating relevant economic & skills data and reports.
7. Responsibility for ensuring the project client’s health and safety obligations are understood and carried out to limit and mitigate risks and that projects comply with relevant health and safety legislation.
The Ideal Candidate
You'll have:
1. A relevant NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification / level of experience for this type of role
2. Working knowledge and awareness of project methodologies, planning processes and techniques and change methodologies
3. Experience in programme and project planning, monitoring and reporting techniques
4. Proven experience and ability to quickly aggregate, analyse and report a range of information into a coherent picture of project performance and status
5. Intermediate planning, monitoring and reporting skills
6. Excellent ICT skills including Microsoft desktop suite
