Local Operations Manager 12 month secondment, Crawley
This role involves managing the day-to-day performance of the local operations team within set resources and budgets, ensuring operational safety and high-quality train service delivery.
Note: This position requires security vetting. The successful candidate must clear security vetting before an offer is made. This is a 12-month secondment with potential for permanence in the future.
Role Overview
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and mentor the local operations team, implementing Network Rail policies efficiently.
2. Act as Rail Incident Officer (RIO) when required, overseeing infrastructure and service restoration activities.
3. Maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers, including maintenance teams and TOCs.
4. Manage resources and budgets to deliver train services, including during disruptions.
5. Implement contingency plans to optimize train performance.
6. Develop and oversee local emergency plans in line with route requirements.
7. Monitor maintenance activities to ensure train service performance.
8. Manage operational budgets within procurement guidelines.
9. Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety standards, and competency assessments.
10. Respond to incidents affecting infrastructure, coordinating with Network Rail Control.
11. Coordinate Mobile Operations Managers strategically during disruptions.
12. Manage vehicles and response equipment, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
13. If qualified, work in signal boxes as directed.
