Registered Veterinary Nurse - Medicine & Oncology Team Leader

Hamilton Specialist Referrals is a purpose-built state-of-the-art veterinary hospital which provides the latest in cutting-edge, specialist treatments for cats and dogs, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility. As Team Leader, you will also guide and line manage our Medicine & Oncology Nurses & VCAs, with the support of our Nurse Manager.
As part of our Medicine & Oncology team, your general duties will include:
1. Team Leadership: Leading and motivating the nursing and VCA (including laboratory technician) team, providing guidance and support.
2. Clinical Care: Providing patient care on admission, assisting with medical or oncology procedures and anesthesia, diagnostic tests, and administrating chemotherapy under the direction of the oncologist.
3. Workflow and Efficiency: Working with the Workflow Coordinator to manage the team's schedule, workload, and resources, ensuring smooth operation of the department.
4. Training and Development: Supporting the professional development of team members.
5. Communication: Communicating with clients, veterinary staff, and other professionals involved in patient care.
As a key member of the nursing team, you will play a vital role in supporting the growth of our internal medicine and oncology departments, ensuring patients receive the highest level of care throughout their treatment. Your work will directly impact the well-being of patients while also providing crucial support to our specialists and clients during their treatment journey.

Experience and qualifications
* Qualified RVN with RCVS registration
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work collaboratively
* Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to patient safety
* Previous experience in a referral hospital would be preferred
* Confidence in nursing complex medical and/or oncological cases would be preferred
* Comfortable leading, delegating and organising a team
* Leadership experience would be beneficial but is not essential
Working Pattern
A full-time position covers 40 hours per week, across 4 days. There is a 1 in 6 weekend rota (Sat & Sun), and you would ordinarily work 2 bank holidays per year. Shift times during the week are 9hrs 15mins, and typically fall between 07:30-20:00 on a mixture of early or late shifts.
