An opportunity has arisen in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for a Research Assistant to carry out research and development activities in support of the Head of Department, Professor Washington Yotto Ochieng, CBE, EBS, CEng, FREng.
You will work on strategy and business development underpinned by the development of security, resilience, computer vision, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), resilient PNT, and integrated models, algorithms, and tools for autonomous navigation and wayfinding, situational awareness, and object detection (including prohibited items) for mission-critical services.
Minimum Requirements:
* MSc in computer vision, any branch of Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
* Experience in research in SLAM
* Experience in the development of computer vision and machine learning algorithms
* Knowledge of systems engineering including requirements, design, development/prototyping, testing, and validation
* Ability to develop and apply new concepts
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
