In Tayside we put women and their families at the heart of our Maternity and Gynaecology services and are seeking a committed and passionate individual to guide these services into the future. You will work closely with colleagues, ensuring the highest standard of care and quality service for women and families across our community. You will be an experienced midwife or nurse who has worked across a variety of clinical areas relevant to the post with experience of leading change initiatives and developing pathways of care with a strong link to maternity services. We deliver Gynaecology services from Ninewells Hospital Dundee and Perth Royal Infirmary it is a comprehensive and forward thinking service which includes an Assisted Conception Unit and Early Pregnancy Services. We provide Maternity services from two freestanding Midwifery Units, an alongside Midwifery Unit and services within Ninewells hospital which has ultrasound, antenatal, labour suite and postnatal services including working closely with neonatal services which includes a 22 bedded neonatal unit and transitional care unit. We have a strong homebirth service and are committed to the continuation of implementation of the Best Start recommendations. We pride ourselves on the standard of care we provide and our innovation in service development to ensuring high quality and safe care through strong leadership and a team approach. Within this context the post holder will lead on Midwifery and Nursing Care Governance, Standards of Practice and Professional Governance for all Registered and Unregistered Midwives and Nurses within their portfolio. You will have support from the senior team in the care division and work closely with the Associate Director, Associate Medical Director, Associate Director of Midwifery and all Senior Midwife and Nursing colleagues and Clinical Director. The main duties and responsibilities fall under the following key categories: person centred care; clinical and professional leadership; promoting a culture of team work, communication and collaboration; quality improvement, research and practice development; continual professional development; safe, effective and reliable care; workforce and staff governance. The successful candidate will have responsibility across the Midwifery and Gynaecology services. The full areas of service lead are currently being reviewed and will be discussed in full with the successful candidate. The post holder must be a Registered Midwife / Nurse with post registration experience gained in a variety of service environments to a level of seniority commensurate with this post. Additionally, professional knowledge acquired through degree level education and supplemented by specialist training or experience and education to Masters Level with a formal qualification (or evidence of experiential learning commensurate with Masters level study) is required. Base is Ninewells Hospital Dundee but frequent travel across Tayside and occasional nationally is required. This role has a remit that is Tayside wide. We look forward to hearing from you.
