Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated individual to support the Education Manager for Driver Training with the day-to-day administration of our driver training unit. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the effective delivery of our services. You will be expected to work without direct supervision, using your initiative to prioritise tasks and maintain the smooth operation of the unit.
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication are essential, as building and maintaining positive relationships with our external providers and stakeholders is a key part of this role.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in administration, coordination, and planning.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will serve as a point of contact for staff, providing guidance and support on administrative matters, including documentation, expenses, and course allocation.
They will work closely with the Driver Training Coordinator to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of driver training within EEAST.
About us
The driver training unit (DTU) is the Trust's ambulance driver training department and is currently based at two main locations, one in Bury St. Edmunds and another in Hethersett, near Norwich.
We have a dedicated team of driver trainers and a fleet of specialist driver training vehicles. We primarily carry out new starter and graduate paramedic blue light driving training courses and new starter Patient Transport Services courses.

Job responsibilities
Support the Education Managers in the effective operation of the Driver Training Unit, ensuring a seamless and professional service. Build and maintain strong relationships with external providers, manage confidential documents according to GDPR guidelines, and serve as the primary contact for all Driver Training enquiries, managing the central inbox and addressing stakeholder concerns.
Ensure high standards of student support by conducting quality audits, promptly escalating any complaints, and maintaining accurate records of student progress and training outcomes. Oversee the filing system, manage examination and certification processes, and provide invigilation support as needed. Ensure compliance with all Trust and GDPR requirements.
Assist with service improvement initiatives, adapting to the evolving needs of the organisation by taking on additional responsibilities as required. Handle routine correspondence, communicate effectively with internal and external contacts, and work both independently and as part of a team, making informed decisions to support the departments objectives.
Coordinate the planning and execution of training courses, including room bookings, accommodation arrangements, and preparation of certificates. Manage bookings for travel and accommodation, process timesheets, expenses, and mileage claims, ensuring all actions are in line with Trust guidelines.
Commit to ongoing personal development by attending mandatory training, participating in annual appraisals, and actively engaging in team meetings. Take initiative to lead meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Driver Training Unit
