Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to take operational responsibility for the Radiology service at Warminster Community Hospital. You will be responsible for radiation protection, health and safety, organization of workload and conducting high quality diagnostic radiography examinations. You would be remote lone working and therefore require experience in independent and autonomous practice.
Main Duties of the Job
* To undertake clinical work at a senior level, predominantly in plain film imaging, being recognised as an experienced and specialised practitioner.
* To take operational responsibility for the Radiology service at the site, to achieve optimum operational effectiveness through efficient organisation of workload. This will involve:
o discussions and planning with service users,
o efficiently reorganising workload in times of equipment breakdown,
o liaising with other departments and referring clinicians when patient throughput is affected.
* To organise Radiology workload at the site on a daily basis, maximising efficiency using available resources and managing patient priority as appropriate.
* To demonstrate leadership, organisational and communication skills whilst representing Radiology at the site.
* To be responsible for Radiation Protection at the site, taking on the role of Deputy Radiation Protection Supervisor and duties associated with this role.
* To be responsible for Health & Safety and other guidelines and requirements for Radiology departments at the site.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications:
* DCR or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
* HCPC Registration.
* Minimum 2 years experience.
Leadership Skills:
* Effective and proactive leadership skills to ensure efficient team working, staff development and service improvement.
* Experience of single-handed working in a community setting.
* Demonstrable organisational ability to respond effectively to unpredictable workload.
* Self-motivating to ensure a consistent efficient and effective service to both patients and colleagues.
Knowledge and Experience:
* Extensive clinical radiographic experience including Plain film radiography, Fluoroscopy procedures, Portable and Theatre work.
* Evidence of autonomous working and decision-making.
* Ability to work unsupervised ensuring effective clinical decisions.
* Working knowledge of IR(ME)R and IRR.
Communication:
* Effective communication skills to enable liaison with multi-disciplinary teams, colleagues and students/trainees.
* Ability to demonstrate negotiation skills to justify clinical prioritisation.
Team Working:
* Ability to work in a team and accept feedback.
