Job Description
Job Description - Satellite Thermal Engineer
Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing space company and contribute to pioneering, cutting-edge propulsion technology. As an essential team member, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the thermal control system of spacecraft and propulsion systems. This role involves supporting a groundbreaking mission that aims to unlock previously inaccessible ultra-low orbits for satellites.
About the Company
The company is developing a unique hybrid between an aircraft and a satellite using an advanced propulsion system. Current technologies operate either at altitudes up to 20 km or above 450 km, but this company aims to bridge the gap by developing the first satellite capable of consistent operation between these altitudes. This new technology allows satellites to function in ultra-low Earth orbits, significantly closer to the Earth’s surface, improving observation and connectivity for various applications such as environmental monitoring and satellite internet coverage.
Your Role
We are looking for a creative and hard-working expert in satellite heat dissipation to work alongside our mechanical and electronics engineers. You will design a thermal control system to ensure stable operation at high temperatures and will take full ownership of this system, helping to ensure mission success.
Responsibilities:
* Apply theoretical and practical knowledge of thermal control design for satellites.
* Perform steady-state and transient thermal analysis of spacecraft systems.
* Collaborate with hardware teams to guide material and design decisions for thermal dissipation.
* Lead the development of thermal vacuum test procedures and component design.
* Work with FEM analysis tools (e.g., Ansys) and programming languages.
* Use lab equipment to test hardware and participate in daily company operations and R&D planning.
Additional Requirements:
* Experience with tools such as Thermal Desktop, ESATAN-TMS, SINDA/FLUINT, and performing tests such as Thermal Balance Testing.
* Experience in Conductive Heat Transfer Analysis and Thermal Soak Testing.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to contribute to launching groundbreaking technology into space, redefining satellite operations. You will have ownership over key aspects of the mission, experience a high level of responsibility, and be rewarded with equity and a competitive salary.
