This company is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic PSV / HGV to join their team in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire on a full-time permanent basis.

About the role:
As a Maintenance Mechanic PSV / HGV, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the fleet operates smoothly and safely. You’ll work independently and as part of a collaborative team to perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections, ensuring compliance with DVSA regulations. Your expertise will help maintain the company’s reputation for quality and reliability, and you will have the opportunity to support the development of future mechanics through mentorship.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Independently complete repairs and maintenance services with minimal supervision.
* Utilise diagnostic equipment and possess a thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
* Collaborate effectively with team members to uphold high standards of repair and maintenance.
* Maintain accurate records within the Vehicle Maintenance System (VMS) covering defect sheets, work sheets, and service sheets.
* Establish and strengthen relationships with office staff and suppliers to enhance operational efficiency.
* Assist the Maintenance Manager in optimising stock systems and work efficiencies.
* Participate in breakdown responses and manage vehicle defects promptly to reduce downtime.
* Mentor apprentices and promote a culture of learning and development within the team.
About you:
You will need to hold a Full Driving Licence (PCV Licence preferred) and have solid knowledge of the PCV or HGV industry, including a strong understanding of DVSA regulations. Relevant technical qualifications, such as NVQ3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent experience, are essential. Strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset are critical, along with excellent time management abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and computer diagnostic systems will enable you to succeed. A proactive attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality results are vital, and experience with VMS systems and First Aid Training is desirable.
