Job Title Interface Engineer Location Glasgow or London Salary from £58,000, up to 15% bonus and health cover Flexible Working Pattern Help us create a better future, quicker The Inter Array Cable (IAC) package Interfaces Engineer is a critical role within the Offshore Renewables Business, focussing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects in the UK, Europe and overseas. Belonging to the Transport and Installation department and reporting to the Package Manager of the project, the IAC Interface Engineer will support the definition and implementation of robust and cost effective engineering strategies and plans within the Inter Array Cable package. This shall include the tendering, negotiation and management of £multi-million offshore supply and logistics contracts. During the delivery phase support will be provided with the management of multiple offshore contractors, management of interfaces within the package and being the point of contact for interfaces with other packages in the project. The candidate will be supporting engineering activities and decisions from an engineering perspective across the IAC package. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the UK, overseas, onshore and offshore construction sites. What you’ll be doing Identify, develop, implement and manage an Interface Management System for procurement, pre construction and construction phases of the IAC package; Support the Package Manager, Installation Manager and Cable Design Manager in the resolution of interface issues; Liaise with the Project Interface Engineer and Manager to support the resolution of interface between packages. Identify interface risks and opportunities and communicate them to the Package Manager; Ensure interface-related changes are captured by the change management process; Review package scopes to eliminate scope gaps, overlap and mismatch; Review of package contract documentation to ensure interface issues are managed consistently; Implement the contractual interface management requirements, ensure these are understood by contractors; Ensure interface and engineering issues are managed considering all HSE and CDM requirements; Provide training and project briefings on the Interface Management System, Processes & Tools as required ; Monitor interface progress and provide regular updates to the package team and management; Organise and attend package interface meetings; Attend Package meetings as required to identify and progress interfaces; Liaise with interface representative within the IAC package; Seek to address lessons learnt on interfaces from previous projects; Facilitate resolution of problem interfaces, e.g. by organising meetings, workstreams and coordinating decision papers (as required ); Act as custodian of all interface management tools & processes in the package. What you’ll bring Educated to degree level or equivalent in engineering with a higher-level degree (e.g. MSc, MEng, PhD) desirable; Experience with the requirements for the design, manufacture, installation and testing of Inter Array Cables. Experience in large multidisciplinary project work in international environments - proactive leader and motivator, with an ability to work, manage work tasks and decision-making processes under pressure and to tight deadlines; Sound relationship management skills and confidence working with Execution Managers, Package Managers, Lead and Senior Engineers; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
