Site Supervisor – Wynyard – £40,000 + Overtime
Role Overview:
A data centre in Wynyard, just north of Middlesbrough, is seeking a Site Supervisor to oversee a small team of engineers. The role involves managing the maintenance of critical systems and building services infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted data centre operations. This is a hands-on position requiring a proactive approach to maintenance, compliance, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
* Permanent site-based role – Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm.
* Supervise a team of engineers, ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of the site's critical infrastructure.
* Ensure 24/7 reliability of critical systems, including UPS, generators, HV/LV distribution, cooling systems, fire suppression, and security systems.
* Manage and coordinate Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
* Perform monthly generator load testing out of hours to verify system reliability.
* Support and oversee HV/LV switching operations, ensuring compliance with site safety procedures.
* Act as a point of escalation for technical issues, providing troubleshooting expertise for electrical and mechanical faults.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and site-specific regulations, including health and safety, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
* Work closely with client representatives and contractors, ensuring smooth service delivery and operational transparency.
* Respond to emergency situations, requiring candidates to live locally for rapid response.
* Undertake HV Authorised Person (HVAP) training within 12 months to support site-wide electrical systems.
Requirements:
* Ideally apprenticeship trained candidates but City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations & City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installations is needed.
* Experience in data centre or critical environment maintenance.
* Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical building services.
* Experience managing a team of engineers and coordinating site maintenance activities.
* Familiarity with UPS, generators, HV/LV systems, cooling, fire suppression, and BMS controls.
* Security Clearance (SC) required – candidates must be willing to complete the necessary checks.
