Job summary The Guy's and St Thomas's Long Covid service, has an exciting opportunity for a current band 7 physiotherapist or an experienced band 6 to join the service. This position is fixed term with an end date of 31st March 2026. The role currently works with patients with long covid in Lambeth and Southwark, but we are excited to consider how the model may work for other conditions, so may evolve over the next few months to include patients with other long-term conditions with a similar symptom burden. The role supports patients 1:1, via group interventions and via a self- management-based app. You will work in both the community and at hospital sites. Whilst the funding for the post is full-time, we would be happy to hear from people who wish to work more flexibly. The successful candidate will highly motivated to enhance their skills and knowledge in this evolving and challenging clinical condition. You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to prioritise the responsibilities of your role. You will be required to lead and support service developments and demonstrate flexibility when adapting to and implementing change. The roles include partnership working with hospital teams and other agencies within primary and secondary care, social care and voluntary sector organisations. You will be required to travel across Lambeth and Southwark. Main duties of the job To perform highly specialised and advanced assessments and treatments of patients presenting with long covid, providing home-based, outpatient and virtual based therapy to adults living in Southwark and Lambeth. To act as team leader, manage designated staff performance and be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of the Long Covid service. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and a source of clinical expertise to facilitate seamless rehabilitation of clients. Provide supervision and facilitate professional development with Physiotherapy staff, Therapy Assistants and Physiotherapy students as required. To work autonomously, frequently as a lone practitioner and at times in conjunction with team colleagues, across a variety of locations within the community including clients' homes to meet the individual needs of the multi-cultural population in an inner city area. To work across borough boundaries, accessing and recording information, communicating with patients and colleagues, attending meetings or training using mobile devices, and coming into offices when required.
