A range of settings across South Gloucestershire are looking for SEND teaching assistants to work with students that have additional needs. I have roles coming up in mainstream schools that have specialist units attached, and special schools.
The Roles
You will be supporting pupils to develop positive self-regulation skills and improve their engagement with core curriculum subjects. Some work will be one-to-one, under the guidance of the SENDCo/class teacher. Students will have established targets which you will be working towards in collaboration with other staff.
Roles available in both primary and secondary settings.
Main Responsibilities
* Support individual pupils to develop positive self-regulation skills
* Manage challenging behaviour following the school's approach
* Deliver planned interventions
* Ensure pupil safety and welfare is maintained at all times
* Feedback to SENDCo/class teacher
Essential Criteria
* Prior experience working with young people who have additional needs
* Ability to build trusting relationships
* Good listening skills
* Ability to adapt and use own initiative
* Patience and resilience
Desirable Criteria
* Team Teach training/experience
* Education/Teaching Assistant qualification
