Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated multi-tasked patient access officer to join our team at Trauma & Orthopaedics based at Braintree Community Hospital with the potential/ability to cover other sites.
You will provide robust admin support to the Orthopaedic Patient Access Team. Ability to be flexible and adaptable for the changing needs of the service are required.
You will have previous experience of working in a fast-paced 'In patient/Patient Access' waiting list environment, together with excellent organisational skills. A confident telephone manner, good IT skills, and understanding of Service Change/development with previous experience of working in the NHS or within healthcare.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a comprehensive professional and efficient patient monitoring and waiting list service within prescribed timescales.
2. To monitor patients admitted pathway from referral to treatment for all specialties in accordance with the Trust’s Patient Access Policy and the NHS Constitution. These include RTT 18 weeks target and 31 and 62 day cancer targets.
3. To ensure efficient use of theatres.
4. Ensure all patients' details are entered and updated accurately on to the Patient Administration System (PAS) and Theatreman.
5. Responsible for effective communication with Consultants and clinical teams, patients, relatives, General Practitioners.

* Educated to A Level or equivalent standard.
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous experience of working in the NHS or private sector.

* Ability to use own initiative and excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
