Year-round Minnesota Camp ministry position
South Central Minnesota Youth For Christ is looking for an Assistant Director / Program Director for Prairie River Camp. This is a beautiful wooded 62 acre camp facility that currently has 145 year round beds and additional summer camp beds. Over 3,000 people spend time at the camp each year. Prairie River Camp is a member of CCCA and is an Angel Tree partnering camp. Prairie River Camp works with many churches and other likeminded partners coming in to do activities, retreats, and camps. We are looking for the right someone to help give leadership to the growth of this ministry while assisting with the overall operation and goals of Prairie River Camp. This job is a hands-on leadership and administrative position. Next year we are planning to run a Middle School Camp and a High School Camp at Prairie River Camp. We are a small camp with big dreams. Primary duties of the Assistant Camp/Program Director will consist of overseeing the ministry of programmed camps, coordinating and facilitating retreat and guest groups, and effectively overseeing the administration of the camp as a whole. Additional duties will consist of fund development, public relations, and staff development. This position will have oversight over other full and part-time staff, summer staff, and volunteers.
This person’s duties are:
Programmed Camp Ministry:
1. Building partnerships with churches and other like-minded partners to reach youth and raise up life-long followers of Jesus.
2. Planning the theme, direction, and ministry focus of all programmed camps.
3. Recruiting and scheduling speakers, music leaders, volunteer teams, and cabin leaders (counselors) for all programmed camps.
4. Providing training for all camp staff and volunteers.
5. Overseeing the registration process and housing assignments for all programmed camps.
6. Recruiting and hiring summer staff personnel.
Facilitating Guest Groups & Retreats:
1. Providing clear rental information through various outlets regarding Prairie River Camp’s retreat and group options.
2. Communicating in a prompt manner to all guest group inquiries.
3. Maintaining a clear reservation process for all guest groups.
4. Setting up, scheduling, and coordinating all housing, food service, and activity facilitation for guest group retreats.
5. Handling all payments and deposits.
6. Serving as the on-site host for guest group retreats.
Administration:
1. Producing camp budgets for all programmed camps.
2. Overseeing the ordering and delivery of all food, program, housekeeping, and miscellaneous supplies for camp.
3. Ensuring that the legal, Youth For Christ organizational and fiscal requirements are met through careful management.
4. Ensuring that the camp complies with all state and local guidelines and requirements.
5. Attending Christian Camp and Conference Association regional conferences and Youth For Christ regional conferences.
6. Working closely with the PRC Ambassador Team to increase public relations.
Fund Development:
1. Working diligently to develop and maintain a funding base of personal supporters through a network of family and friends.
2. Developing a local funding base through sharing the ministry with area churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals.
Public Relations / Marketing:
1. Ensuring that Prairie River Camp and its mission have visibility through various avenues including speaking engagements.
2. Continuing to improve and upkeep the direct mail marketing plan.
3. Continuing to improve and upkeep the email marketing plan.
4. Utilizing paid and free advertisement options in newspapers, radio, and TV.
Staff Development:
1. Recruiting and selecting paid staff.
2. Training, placing, and supervising the staff to do the work of the ministry.
3. Leading ongoing staff meetings and training that will further strengthen the group as a whole to pursue the mission of the organization.

Fundraising Responsibilities:
All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to—extending invitations to fundraising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
Benefits
Compensation & Benefits:
Full-time position (40 - 50 hours per week)
Pay: (50% to be raised by employee)
Base: $15,000 - $20,000
Potential: $30,000 - $40,000
