Ongar Health Centre has an opportunity for an administrator to join our busy practice support team and assist with the prescription administration. This role is to cover maternity leave for 9 months and will be offered on a full-time basis, 37.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
* Process repeat prescriptions on a daily basis ensuring compliance with the practice protocol ensuring accuracy whilst generating patient written requests for repeat prescriptions.
* Perform regular searches on drugs requiring monitoring hence minimising the risk of adverse effects.
* Ensure all current medication have relevant, current authorisations
* Deal with prescription queries from a range of healthcare professionals including; GPs, nurses, community pharmacists, nursing home staff as well as reception/administration staff at the practice.
* Add any relevant monitoring diaries.
* Add new patient medication. Pass to registered GP for approval highlighting any concerns found, add relevant diaries.
* Liaise with patient via phone call or letter.
* Communicate with new doctors in medication review protocols and practice formulary choices.
* Ensure that all prescription queries are passed to the appropriate person as soon as possible for the relevant action.
* Take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.
* Work methodically and accurately with the ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise own workload.

We are a large, busy training practice, serving a patient population of 12,500 and operating from purpose built premises. We use SystmOne clinical system and are rated 'good' with CQC.
