Job overview
We are looking for two Clinical Team Leaders at HMP Altcourse.
As a Clinical Team Leader within the Integrated Mental Health Team your role will comprise of:
1. Mental health assessments / screening
2. Junior staff/ student supervision
3. Crisis intervention and risk management
4. Attending MDTs
5. Liaising with both internal and external agencies (such as prison/probation and CMHTs)
6. Training facilitation and group work
7. Upholding the values of Mersey Care, demonstrating leadership and accountability whilst engaging effectively with the larger MDT and contributing toward patients’ treatment plans.
You will be required to work across the prison assessing patients and formulating risk assessments.
You will be an advocate for patients and your practice will be person-centred and non-judgemental.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Team Leaders within the IMHT are responsible for delivering the Wing Based nursing model and applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to provide education and awareness sessions with our prison colleagues.
The IMHT has both a Primary and Secondary service and you should have the skills to work with either team.
Our Secondary Service involves carrying a caseload of patients and supporting them as they complete their sentence and prepare for release.
Our Primary Service involves screenings and assessment, signposting and referring to relevant pathways, risk management reviews and crisis nurse responsibilities.
Both services require excellent communication skills, an ability to maintain professional boundaries, and knowledge and understanding of our partner agencies, community services, and the Criminal Justice system.
The working day is 07:00 - 20:00 which can include early, main and long day shifts – including weekends. Eligible applicants must have appropriate qualifications and be committed to the further development of their own knowledge and skills.

* Registered Mental Health Nurse
* Demonstrates evidence of continued professional development
* Excellent interpersonal skills
Skills/Abilities
* Able to assess, plan, implement & evaluate programmes of care
* Can demonstrate application of theoretical models into practice
* Proven communication skills (verbal & written)
* Leadership skills: supervising, teaching & assessing; self-motivated with the ability to motivate others; effective resource management
* Uses initiative and can make decisions
* Applies current research and theory into practice
* Works well in a multi-disciplinary team
* Able to organise and co-ordinate services during the absence of more senior staff
* Has participated in group teaching
* Presented at functions/conferences
Experience
* Minimum of 18 months post qualification experience in mental health
* Experience of using the Effective Care Coordination
* Multi-disciplinary working
* Supervision of others
Knowledge and Understanding
* Mental Health Act 1983 (updated 2007)
* NMC Code of Professional Conduct
* Effective Care Co-ordination
