We are seeking a dynamic Team Leader for a 12-month maternity cover contract in Pharmaceutical Development. This role will manage the day-to-day activities of a small team of scientific staff, ensuring the successful delivery of projects while maintaining high standards in quality and compliance. You will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, mentoring your team, and contributing to the overall success of the department.
Must have experience in inhalation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership: Manage the daily activities of scientific professionals, setting priorities and ensuring timely task completion. Provide direct supervision and support to your team, guiding performance and development.
2. Continuous Improvement (CI): Identify opportunities for process improvements within the team, leading initiatives and providing feedback on the impact of broader organizational changes.
3. Project & Resource Management: Ensure that equipment, materials, and resources are available to support project plans for up to three months. May be accountable for aspects of the project plan.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Manage internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and clients. Support and potentially lead cross-departmental collaborations to meet project objectives.
5. Quality & Compliance: Uphold company standards for Health & Safety (H&S) and Quality, ensuring team adherence to policies and governance. Ensure that all team members engaged in GMP activities are properly trained and compliant with the quality management system.
6. Mentorship & Development: Guide and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth. Ensure development plans are in place and actively managed for direct reports.
7. Technical Expertise: Apply your understanding of the team's scientific work to challenge and ensure the quality of experimental design and analysis. Perform technical sign-off on reports, ensuring compliance with company standards.
8. Problem Solving: Troubleshoot day-to-day operational and technical issues within the team, using sound judgment to resolve challenges.
9. HR Management: Manage HR processes, including performance reviews and development planning for team members.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. Proven experience managing scientific teams, ideally within pharmaceutical development or a related field.
2. Strong understanding of GMP, Quality, and H&S standards, with a commitment to ensuring compliance.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and drive operational efficiency.
4. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working cross-departmentally and externally with suppliers or clients.
5. Strong mentorship and team development capabilities.
6. Technical expertise in pharmaceutical development, with the ability to challenge and guide experimental design and analysis.
7. Strong problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach to day-to-day technical and operational issues.
