The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive management of environmental compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives for the site. This includes overseeing waste management, energy reporting, environmental permitting, packaging compliance, emissions monitoring, and contributing to the site's overall health and safety performance. Attractive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 p/a Generous pension contributions and performance-based bonuses Opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability and compliance What you'll do: As an Environmental Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing environmental compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives for the site. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records of waste generation and disposal activities, leading the ISO 50001 energy management system, conducting ISO14001 audits, liaising with and preparing reports for the EA, ensuring compliance with environmental permits, processing packaging data for the UK market and also providing support to health and safety activities as needed. Maintain accurate records of waste generation, disposal, and recycling activities. Manage site energy spreadsheets and records, tracking consumption and identifying opportunities for improvement. Lead the ISO 50001 energy management system, ensuring its effective implementation and maintenance. Conduct internal audits of management systems and legal compliance. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Environment Agency (EA) inspector. Prepare and submit all required reports to the EA. Ensure compliance with all environmental permit conditions. Process and report data on all packaging brought into the UK market. What you bring: The ideal candidate for this Environmental Officer position brings a strong understanding of environmental regulations including waste management, permitting, and reporting requirements. You have experience with ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and other relevant management systems. Your proficiency in data analysis and reporting is matched by your excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You are comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Experience within specific industries such as chemical manufacturing would be advantageous, as would NEBOSH or IOSH certification. Your experience with environmental auditing will also be highly valued in this role. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations including waste management, permitting, and reporting requirements.
