Job Title: Assembly & Test Specialist Location: Larne As an Assembly & Test Specialist at Caterpillar, you will have the opportunity to work with and contribute towards a team of production operatives. In this role you will demonstrate high levels of planning and organizing and will perform complex assembly tasks. This skilled role allows you to develop your communication and interpersonal skills as well as use your initiative. You will interact with hourly and salaried employees at your facility and will receive guidance from your Team Leader. Many opportunities exist for those Assembly & Test Specialists who are keen to progress in the production environment and to leadership positions. What you will do: Read and interpret complex prints and sketches in order to plan methods and sequence of assembly Transform verbal instructions into plan methods and sequence of assembly Performs diverse functions such as assemblies, fitting, adjusting, altering, wiring engines, generator sets, control panels, piping and plumbing systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems to construct special order generator sets or maintain site/plant equipment Operates testing equipment to perform functional tests on components being assembled and reworks as necessary Repairs site and plant equipment in the event of reported malfunctions Compliance with safety and quality standards Compliance with 5S programme and other business improvement initiatives Display behaviour and conduct fitting with our Values in Action Train other employees if and when required Any other appropriate duties What you will have: Formal apprenticeship or National Vocational Qualification equivalent in relevant discipline The ability to follow and comprehend verbal, specific and detailed procedures and work instructions as well as basic arithmetic calculations in order to perform the duties described above The ability to be able to read and interpret complex prints to plan methods and sequences of assembly Previous experience using hand tools, power tools, checking or testing equipment Physical ability to fulfill the requirements of the job Previous experience working in a lean environment Previous electrical/mechanical experience Attention to detail to meet quality standards Experience working to take times Working at heights may be necessary Reasonable level of computer literacy Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).
