The Production Control Scheduler position is a highly visible role responsible for planning and scheduling activities. This position is of great significance within the company and is responsible for overseeing daily production schedules and ensuring that finished good inventory levels are managed properly. This position is also responsible for all shipping and receiving activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Develop and maintain customer forecast, master schedule, and procurement plan based on history and sales opportunities. Responsible for inventory control and monitoring of customer systems and requirements.
2. Review and update forecast, production schedules, and material requirements; and work with Sales and Operations to develop and manage forecast.
3. Proactively review material supply of purchased cores from outside vendors and coordinate outside casting services such as coating and heat treat.
4. Assess impact to materials availability and production schedule from customer sales opportunities that may be affecting demand for product over and above the plan.
5. Review material shortages, stock outages, and safety stock levels in coordination with Purchasing and Operations to meet customer requirements. Propose changes when needed.
6. Assist in resolution of MRP and planning discrepancies, create new customer part numbers, and load bills of materials.
7. Schedule plant production in ERP system using requirements from customers and working in conjunction with Operations.
8. Provide customer service as needed to ensure customer satisfaction related to quality defects, order changes, and shipping logistics.
9. Any additional duties that may be assigned by Management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Basic math and problem-solving skills.
2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Computer skills and ERP knowledge desired.
4. Ability to learn customer systems and/or participate in customer system training with the ability to retain knowledge and train others.
5. Ability to pay close attention to details.
6. Ability to understand and learn Lean Manufacturing.
7. Ability to deal comfortably with all levels within the organization.
8. Ability to provide leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
1. AS Degree in business, management, or other related discipline.
2. At least 5 years experience scheduling in manufacturing, preferably in a foundry environment with familiarity of automotive customer systems; however, this is not a requirement.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
