There is potential for four band 5 nurses to commence the programme. The successful candidates will spoke from their current place of work for a day a week (7.5 hours) for a year, into a cancer nurse specialist team within the trust. The successful candidate will work alongside the cancer nurse specialists to gain knowledge and experience in caring for patients with a cancer diagnosis. The successful candidate will also undertake a 6 month on line course through Teeside University on the Principles of cancer care and long term conditions. Main duties of the job Develop their knowledge and skills through the Utilisation of a competency framework, with a view to identifying training needs and ongoing professional development. Have the opportunity to work as part of a cancer nurse specialist (CNS) team across all sites within BTHFT. Work with the CNS teams around personalised care of cancer patients, to increase the interns understanding of the wider needs and services involved in the cancer patients journey. Be supported to identify a service improvement initiative for cancer to implement within their current area of practice, to improve the care and experience of cancer patients. Be accredited at level 6 through completion of " Principles of integrated practice in cancer and other longterm conditions" module, delivered through self-directed distance learning with the university of Teeside.
