Job description Taskmaster Resources Ltd in Huddersfield, working with the University since 2014 are looking to recruit 2 experienced security and facilities officers for on-going temporary based at one of the new University buildings. The work involves patrolling the premises, approaching students, graffiti removal and basic maintenance. The post holder will be a proactive and effective member of the Facilities team, delivering customer focused and professional security and Facilities related services to students, staff, and visitors. They will demonstrate the highest levels of integrity in the delivery of the role and will be focused on encouraging positive and responsible behaviours throughout the university community. The post reports to the Senior Facilities Manager and will support the delivery of a safe and well-presented campus environment and excellent student, staff, and visitor experience for all campus users. Main Duties and Responsibilities of the post are as follows: Carry out external and internal patrols to ensure the provision of a safe and non-threatening environment on the Campus for students, staff, and visitors. Proactively engage with students to encourage positive behaviours and to address conduct issues to prevent vandalism/damage to property, anti-social behaviour, breaches of the university code of conduct, breaches of the peace and crime. Respond to security reports and incidents, and identify, assess, and respond appropriately to crime prevention issues. To complete detailed security incident reports. Provide advice to victims and potential victims of crime, including reporting of issues/defects which affect the safety and security of people and property. Undertake general duties to ensure an exceptional student experience, for instance, the removal of graffiti, out of hours grounds maintenance and cleaning, waste removal, responding to lock outs, floods etc., assisting visitors and guests. Provide reports, statements, and other records and, where required, give evidence in internal hearings, in connection with the role. Carry out routine tasks necessary to ensure the general health, safety, wellbeing and conduct of students, staff, and visitors, including reporting and making safe hazards and snow and ice clearance, utilising any equipment associated with the task. Carry out marshalling, crowd control and security duties in connection with events and activities. Ensure that all buildings are secure including locking and unlocking and the setting of security alarms. To provide an immediate response when fire alarms or fire detection equipment is activated, to attend fire alarm panels. To assist in the coordination of emergency services and the response to emergencies. To investigate alarm activations as directed, to assist with fire alarm activations and building evacuations including the use of Evacuation Chairs if required, in assisting people with accessibility issues from buildings when lifts are not in use. Car parking and traffic control within the University including the application of car parking regulations. Always ensuring the access of emergency and other essential service vehicles. Undertake minor maintenance repairs in line with provided training, capability, and competence. Use of Information Technology and various computing packages, including the Planon system. To communicate in a professional manner within the Facilities Team, respond to emails, telephone requests, and use the radio system to advise other colleagues of requests. Complete accurate records as required by the department. Drive University vehicles including transporting university goods as well as VIPs, staff, and visitors as per the needs of the business. To support the provision of mail and goods inwards services. Manual Handling including the lifting and transporting of university goods and setting up and clearing of teaching and events spaces as required Deliver First Aid duties including the use of Defibrillators. The role holder is responsible for the health and safety of him (or her) self and of any persons who may be affected by his/her actions or non-action e.g., staff, students, suppliers, clients, anyone visiting the areas for which he/she is responsible etc. Such other relevant duties commensurate with the grade of the post as may be assigned by the Team Leaders or Manager.
