Job Title: Client Development Director

The Role
Organic growth of RIM assets under management through external and internal engagement across the North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands, whilst leveraging the full breadth of Rathbones services to the benefit of our clients.
Outcomes of the Role
* Actively manage a network of professional connections (lawyers, accountants, consultants, and entrepreneurial networks) as sources of client referrals and to grow the footprint of Rathbones, whilst also developing new relationships.
* Develop pipeline of potential new clients and keep the pipeline up to date with Sharon Ryan.
* Collaborate and engage with broader Rathbones group services (RFP, RTC, Greenbank, STPS, Investec Bank and other key stakeholders) in the spirit of ‘One Rathbones’.
* Establish Rathbones as a national brand of excellence within the professional connection community and as the market leader to support their clients.
* Support investment managers (Rathbones and IW&I) with their growth objectives and executing their business plans, encompassing pipeline management and new business opportunities and initiatives.
* Encourage investment managers to explore opportunities for growth within existing client books using strategies learnt and utilising the new Business Development dashboard.
* Mentor and coach investment managers with their pitching skills, helping to shape, deliver and close proposals.
* Deliver educational content and Financial Awareness Courses to clients and intermediaries.
* Identify and focus on specialist areas (Corporate Finance, PE, Divorce Specialist Group or Entrepreneur proposition).
* Instigate and help deliver a programme of joint events alongside professional connections to help promote Rathbones within the region.
* Support local marketing events.
* Promote Inspire programme within the IM community.
* Identify and embrace new routes to market and opportunities and share best practice across other regions.
* Reduce client defection through mitigation strategies
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Existing and relevant relationships within the Professional Connections community within the region.
* Proven track record within a business development function.
* Highly commercially focused to drive a high-quality pipeline and support the internal team to convert opportunities.
* A working understanding of investments and financial planning and, ideally, within specialist areas i.e. entrepreneurs and business owners, Family Law.
* The individual needs to be a self-starter, personable, tenacious, outgoing and energetic.
