Your new role, what's involved?
As a Civil Engineering Advanced Apprentice in our Communities team in Lincoln, you will be supporting the team on highway projects for our Lincolnshire County Council client. You will be trained in the use of software engineering tools such as AutoCAD to help your team build a full set of design and engineering skills.
Your tasks could include:
* Working with project leads to process information for existing plans, producing data sheets, data collection and analysis.
* Helping to establish structural requirements to meet the project need.
* Supporting with reports and information for our clients.
As an Advanced Apprentice at WSP you will be a full-time, permanent employee, getting paid while working on exciting, real-world projects from day one. With support from your experienced team and dedicated buddy, you’ll gain hands-on experience in an inspiring environment.
You’ll start your apprenticeship in September 2025, attending a local college for either one day per week or block placement, gaining a full BTEC Level 3 qualification. Typically, the Advanced Apprenticeship takes between 2-3 years to complete (including End Point Assessment in England).
Our dedicated Early Careers team will work closely with you over the course of your apprenticeship to support and plan a development pathway that suits you. We also work together with local colleges to make sure you are getting the best out of your apprenticeship.
With WSP you will feel a sense of belonging in an environment where everyone feels respected and valued. We want you to be your true authentic self at work and be inspired, learn, discover, and feel empowered in your career.
Essential Criteria:
* You will have achieved or are predicted 5 GCSE's grade C/Level 5 or above in English, Maths and Science
Please note: candidates must complete the application form in full, answering all specified questions. This requirement applies to all candidates, inclusive of their background. Successful completion of this stage is mandatory. Candidates who pass this initial stage will then be required to complete an online behavioural assessment. Both the application form and the behavioural assessment are essential parts of our early career’s recruitment process.
What is the application process?
Submit Application: We do not require you to submit a CV to apply, instead you will need to complete a short online application form. You’ll receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of submitting your application.
Online Behavioural Assessment: If you meet our eligibility requirements and we have a role that matches your chosen preferences, you will be sent an online behavioural assessment to complete by our partner, Arctic Shores.
Assessment Centre or Interview: Next, a shortlist of candidates will be created by our hiring managers and those people will be invited to an assessment centre or face-to-face interview, within 8 weeks of initial application. Please note, with the volume of applications we receive not all candidates who are successful at the online assessment can proceed to the interview stage.
Please note, the process can take up to 12 weeks in total if you’re an early applicant. We will aim to keep you informed throughout the time that your application is being considered, however, due to the volume of applications received, we are not able to respond to individual requests for status updates.
