Classroom Support is excited to be working with a school in Chatham that is looking to recruit a number of Learning Support Assistants to start before or after the Christmas break on temp to perm contracts.
The school supports students aged 11-16 with SEMH. The environment can be very challenging in terms of behaviour; however, the senior leadership team aims to promote staff members who work hard and make a lasting positive impact on their students. There are huge opportunities to progress, starting on a supply basis and transitioning to permanent between 12 and 14 weeks into the contract.
The positions will start on a temporary basis with the option of going permanent after a number of weeks working with the academy through our Classroom Support agency.
Essential Experience:
1. Experience of supporting children/young adults with challenging behaviour.
2. A keen understanding of building bonds with students who have had challenging backgrounds and the ability to quickly build trust.
3. Previous work within a Pupil Referral Unit, SEMH school, young offenders institution, or children's home is advantageous.
4. Experience mentoring children and young adults within SEN schools or candidates with a mental health support/young offender's background would be strong candidates for the roles.
5. Any experience of restraint training is highly advantageous but not necessary, as the school uses this as a last resort in all cases. Attachment training is also advantageous but not necessary.
6. Solid knowledge and experience supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
7. Any understanding of supporting children within the foster system or looked after children is also advantageous. Previous work as a Foster Carer would also be a benefit.
The rate of pay is £95+ per day for the right candidates, with a temp to perm option after 12 academic weeks.
If you meet the above criteria and would like to make a difference to students with highly challenging behaviour who need adults they can trust to mentor them, please do get in touch, and we will call you as soon as possible!
You will need a DBS on the update service or be willing to pay £52.20 for a new DBS if you do not have one for us to be able to place you in a school.
