Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
While caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker; the right attitude and a person-centred approach are more important.
Hi, I am a lively and sociable 15-year-old boy with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, learning disability, epilepsy, renal dysplasia, and am fed by gastrostomy, so I need support with my personal care. This training can be provided so that you can help to support me.
I am a happy person and communicate with sounds, gestures, and some Makaton. I love spending time with people. I have a wheelchair for getting out and about.
I am looking for someone who will support me with my care needs and join me in my favourite pastimes, which are people watching whilst out and about, trains, reading books, swimming, and a love of music and nursery rhymes. I also enjoy going to a youth group, for which you will also need to support me to attend.
The person I am looking for to help me will have knowledge of working with children, preferably with some SEND experience, although this is not essential. They should be approachable, fun, friendly, active, and confident in working with young people.
Once completed, please email your application and quote 1076392 in the subject box of the e-mail.
