Facilities Technician Location: Coventry Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 per annum Job Type: Full-time Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday, with on-call rota for emergencies Our client is a highly respected engineering organisation, known for driving technological innovation across sectors including automotive, aerospace, rail, food & drink, oil & gas, and defence. They are looking for a Plumbing Qualified Facilities Maintenance Technician to join their maintenance team in supporting their state-of-the-art facilities. The Role Reporting to the Maintenance Operations Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for mechanical preventative and reactive maintenance across facility and plant equipment, including aspects of plumbing, HVAC and electrical work. Main Responsibilities: Conduct preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance on workshop and plant equipment. Perform plumbing repairs and installations across facility plant and site services. Work collaboratively with external contractors to ensure facility maintenance aligns with company standards and MTC guidelines. Liaise with the Health and Safety team to review and approve health and safety documentation for contractors. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and work quality, demonstrating a proactive work attitude. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, assisting with problem-solving activities on facility equipment. Produce service reports for all work completed and document maintenance activities. Carry out annual servicing and statutory inspections of plant equipment. Use mobile devices, such as a tablet or laptop, to log, close, and update work orders on the CAFM system. Communicate technical issues effectively with contractors and external suppliers. Adhere to all legal standards, company policies, and procedures, ensuring quality in all maintenance activities. Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience: Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance or facilities maintenance role. Plumbing qualifications and relevant certifications in mechanical maintenance disciplines (Level 3 or equivalent). Ability to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing schematics. Comfortable working at height and holding a full UK driver’s license. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Proficiency with technology, including the use of mobile devices for tracking and documenting maintenance tasks. Desirable Skills: Experience in a facilities management or building services environment. Knowledge of statutory inspections and legal standards related to facilities and plant equipment maintenance.
