Job summary As a member of the preoperative assessment team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients' individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse The Senior Nursing Assistant demonstrates a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. S/he will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent. The Senior Nursing Assistant within preoperative assessment plays a key role in the flow of the nurse clinics and the running of their own specific clinics. There is an opportunity for the Senior Nursing Assistant to run and manage their own clinics within the preoperative assessment department. Assist with the induction, supervision and training and development of Band 2 Nursing Assistants under the supervision of a registered nurse There is the real opportunity to develop within the role and undertake further training and development. To act as a role model for student nurses and colleagues. Main duties of the job The main duties include performing and documenting patients observation, phlebotomy and carrying out non-complex pre-assessments for adult patients undergoing minor operations under general anaesthesia.
