Main duties of the job
We are eager to recruit a Consultant Practitioner Psychologist or Consultant Psychological Therapist passionate about working with service users and MDT staff in our inpatient services, sited at Lynfield Mount and Airedale General Hospitals. The post holder will clinically lead and manage the psychological staff working into our inpatient wards and work with the inpatient leadership team to support people to get their needs met and develop their strengths in as proactive and effective manner as possible, ensuring all work is underpinned by the principles of a trauma informed approach. Staff support & development through supervision, training, reflective practice & psychological debriefing/safe spaces are key components of the role.
The successful candidate will be experienced working with adults with complex mental health needs and familiar with working through a trauma informed lens to understand what has happened to people and ways to alleviate their distress. It will help if they've experience of working with people and teams in a range of settings, in particular inpatient environments. Qualifications
* Doctorate level training in clinical or applied psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence OR equivalent from another modality
* Leadership training/qualification
Experience
* Significant experience in relevant area of mental health practice.
* Clinical leadership experience
* Experience of teaching, training, supervision and consultation.
* Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
* Significant post qualification experience and training.
Knowledge
* Significant clinical knowledge relevant to service area
* Evidenced based psychological therapies relevant to service area.
* Doctoral / master's level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis.
* Able to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress both directly with patients and indirectly via supervision or case reviews with other staff.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Highly specialist clinical knowledge relevant to a service area.
Skills
* Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
