M&E Engineer

As an M&E Engineer in this role, you'll play a key part in maintaining the operational integrity of M&E systems, working closely with your team to carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond promptly to reactive issues.
This role presents a unique opportunity for someone with an M&E background who is eager to take on more responsibility and move towards a Project Management position.
Job Description
Your day-to-day duties will centre around ensuring that all mechanical and electrical systems are running smoothly, while also taking ownership of designated small works and capital projects on-site.
This includes managing associated subcontractors, ensuring work is carried out to specification and in line with safety protocols.
You'll have the chance to build on your technical expertise, while also developing your leadership and organisational skills by overseeing and coordinating projects.
Whether it's managing the implementation of a small-scale upgrade or ensuring the seamless operation of crucial building systems, you'll gain hands-on experience in both maintenance and project management—positioning you well for future growth in your career.
Key Responsibilities
* Multi-site working across 2 client corporate buildings in Bristol and Gloucester.
* Overseeing designated small works and capital projects.
* Management & supervision of subcontractors, ensuring adherence to all H&S including reviewing & approving RAMS, CDM where required, issuing permits, monitoring works, and managing safe systems of work to ensure safe working.
* Ensuring administration requirements are actioned on time and necessary documents/records are maintained accurately.
* Stakeholder management.
* Delivery of PPM, including statutory requirements, proactive and reactive works issued by M&E Engineering Supervisor or through the Helpdesk, ensuring service levels are met or exceeded.
* Delivery of all types of reactive maintenance, including fabric, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and other related tasks.
* Highlighting any facilities-related issues to M&E Engineering Supervisor, Building Manager, and/or Helpdesk and ensuring resolution is delivered.
* Supporting client & ISS audits on compliance.
* Providing feedback and suggestions on improvements and innovations to enhance the services provided.
* Completing assigned training as required, including attending Toolbox Talks, and submitting Near Hits/Misses/Incidents via correct channels.
* Ensuring locations of responsibilities (e.g. plant rooms) are maintained to a high standard of housekeeping.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
* Electrical bias with mechanical skills desirable, alongside robust technical expertise.
* Preferably IOSH trained, able to perform subcontractor safety monitoring inspections, address any safety issues or incidents, and evaluate and mitigate risks.
* Strong and effective project management experience and capabilities.
* Working knowledge of CDM (Construction Design and Management).
* Experience working in FM/Building Services in commercial properties, with an understanding of fire systems, BMS (Building Management Systems), HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and other main equipment.
