DHA - The Derby Law Centre provides specialist legal advice, advocacy and court representation through Legal Aid and non-Legal Aid contracts. We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual to provide Specialist Family Law advice, advocacy and court representation under our Legal Aid contract.
You will have conduct of your own caseload, guide, support and supervise staff, contribute to the development of processes and procedures and their effective implementation, deal with family law enquiries from the public, and help as many clients as possible achieve a positive outcome for their enquiry.
You should be a team player, able to work under pressure to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of work. The ideal candidate will be an excellent relationship builder with strong negotiation and communication skills, and must have relevant experience of providing specialist family law advice and knowledge of legislation, case law and social policy in this area.
The ideal candidate for the position will have:
1. A minimum of 4 years PQE, with demonstrable experience and knowledge of Family Law, hold a current valid practising certificate, and be a member of a Family Law Accreditation Scheme;
2. Experience of Legal Aid Family Law work (Private & Public) and Contract Supervision;
3. Experience of representing clients in Court proceedings related to family law disputes;
4. Experience in other areas of Legal Aid contract work is desirable;
5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
6. An ability to deal with people in difficult and pressurised situations;
7. Experience of advocating with agencies or services;
8. The ability to formulate complex letters and draft legal documents such as petitions, affidavits and consent orders;
9. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines and targets;
10. A full driving licence with access to a vehicle.
