About The Role
We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Technical Actuarial Specialist to join us here at LVFS.
We’re seeking a self-motivated individual who can competently design and implement solutions to modelling problems, and create, amend, and test our actuarial models, systems, and automated processes, ensuring we meet high technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Meeting deadlines and delivering work in an accurate, timely and clear manner.
* Presenting work and research via written presentations and reports to a range of stakeholders and senior decision makers when required.
* Promoting good risk management practices and ensuring LVFS policies are followed.
* Monitoring regulatory and market developments and spotting any potential impacts on the department.
* Providing some guidance to Actuarial Analysts, Senior Actuarial Analysts, or other Technical Actuarial Specialists where required, to help with cross-skilling.
* Leading the development, adoption and maintenance of technical actuarial processes.
* Identifying, and helping to implement, the company’s continuous improvement initiatives.
* Building strong working relationships across Finance and other departments.
* Facilitating the design and implementation of technical solutions for business processes.
About You
Our ideal candidate will…
* Understand how life actuarial scientific techniques apply within a business setting.
* Be able to process engineering within the context of actuarial processes.
* Demonstrate commercial acumen and understanding.
* Have a strong technical background, with knowledge of the UK financial services market and economic environment, gained by studying or working.
* Be a proficient user of Prophet and R3S (AFM) actuarial cash flow modelling platforms and automation tools, ideally PowerShell.
* Be aware of limitations and know when to escalate issues that require further support to resolve.
* Be largely able to work competently alone, but comfortable to express when a need for help is required.
* Possess strong analytical skills, including knowledge of tools such as Excel, R, Python, and Power BI.
* Showcase strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 programmes such as Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
* Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of data storage, manipulation and analysis.
* Display excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear manner to various individuals.
* Be self-motivated and able to prioritise workload effectively.
