Prominent role in the implementation and management of commissioning procedures, including Electrical Safety, within Iberdrola Projects, working as an integral part of the Project Commissioning Teams to ensure that the Offshore Wind Farm projects are commissioned in accordance with Project specifications. Responsible for the management and implementation of the Safety Rules including having an oversight of all aspects of electrical safety within the Offshore Projects. Provide support and guidance to the Electrical Safety Teams, to ensure coordination between onshore and offshore activities, including liaison between the Project, worksite, and Grid Operator with respect to safety, testing, commissioning, and energisation/operations.
What you’ll be doing
You will be responsible for the Commissioning team and ensuring that the Offshore Wind Farm projects are commissioned according to the norms applied, in a defined time, in accordance with Project specifications.
Provide cross project support for management and implementation of Iberdrola Renewables Offshore Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules. Ensure that Safety Rules implemented on project level consider national legislative (Electrical Safety) requirements in the country of operation.
Manage consistency across projects regarding the management of Electrical Installations (via project specific Electrical Safety Teams), taking leading role in the proactive monitoring of contractors engaged in works that can affect electrical safety.
Act as the main point of contact from commissioning, representing the interests of the department within the Iberdrola Renewables Offshore Safety Rules Committee. Fully participate and provide support to the committee with the implementation of, the development and continuous improvement of the Safety Rules, including the creation of new procedures and company specific safety instructions.
Assume responsibility for the appointment of persons to authorise them to carry out duties directly associated with electrical safety, providing support to the H&S Compliance department with the Training and Authorisation process for all operational staff (APs, SAPs, and Control Persons) in line with the appropriate business procedures to ensure that the Project Commissioning Team have suitable numbers of authorised persons for work activities within the required timescales.
Oversee the creation and fully participate with each specific Project Safety Rule Committee, acting as the main communication channel for any requirements coming to/from the Global Safety Rules Committee. Ensure that each project organisation receives the correct briefings, including training and development and support on-site application with all necessary processes, workflows, and systems in place.
Provide technical support, advice, and guidance, ensuring the design, installation, commissioning, and operation meet the regulatory requirements for the design of electrical equipment based on applicable electrical and safety standards.
Deliver commissioning works in accordance with Project Quality and Environmental processes and procedures. Approval of commissioning procedures and attend progress, coordination and interface meetings with the team and contractors.
Prepare and review tender documents including commissioning tests to be performed, contractor’s scope of works, costs, and programme according to our standards and specifications.
What you’ll bring
* Degree in Electrical Engineering supported by relevant experience in an operational or technical engineering role.
* Expert knowledge of Electrical Safety Rules, associated standards, policies, procedures and working practices.
* Previous experience as a Senior Authorised Person, Control Engineer or equivalent preferred.
* Experience in commissioning, construction or design of substations, transmission lines, or power plants, with experience in the renewables business essential.
* In-depth understanding of the offshore wind industry and the systems deployed.
* Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, compliance, and legislation applicable to construction/commissioning projects particularly CDM.
* Knowledge of specification, design, maintenance, construction and commissioning of plant apparatus, control & protection equipment on transmission network.
* Knowledge on main safety regulations concerning the commissioning works.
* Experience in the development of Safety Rules and the supporting procedures.
* Experience of Operational Authorisation processes and training requirements, with the ability to assess suitability of staff for various levels of safety authorisation.
* Transmissions and distribution experience up to 400kV.
* Grid code and OFTO proven experience.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate and explain complex material and concepts to various audiences.
* High degree of flexibility, highly motivated with the ability to work under pressure.
* Able to travel internationally as required.
