An opportunity has arisen to join the Cancer Performance team in the role of Cancer MDT Coordinator.
We are seeking applicants with experience working within the NHS, preferably within a cancer data environment. An understanding of current cancer pathways and MDT processes would be extremely desirable. You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and applicants must be able to travel to other hospital sites as and when required.
You will have good organisational skills and be able to communicate confidently with all levels of staff on a wide range of information, as well as the ability to work under pressure as part of a team. Experience in planning complex processes, report writing, and data analysis is desirable, and excellent written and verbal skills are essential.
The team requires enthusiastic members committed to having a positive impact on cancer patient pathways. The MDTC role is pivotal in ensuring timely patient progression through diagnostic and treatment pathways, both to ensure a good patient experience as well as ensuring our Trust continues to attain a high performance against National Cancer Waiting Times standards. Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and organize work with minimum assistance is required. Much of the work is reliant on effective use of IT systems; therefore, applicants should be confident in using (and supporting others in using) a variety of software packages including word processing, Excel spreadsheets, and email, as well as Hospital systems.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the creation and smooth running of weekly tumour-specific multidisciplinary meetings (MDTs), attendance, and real-time typing of MDT outcomes during meetings.
2. PTL management to ensure patient progression through diagnostic and treatment pathways to meet National Cancer Waiting Times targets.
3. PTL management to ensure each patient has a complete and informative tracking record on the Cancer database.
