Instrument Technician

NES Fircroft is working with a large chemical manufacturing company based on Saltend Chemical Park in Hull. They are seeking an Instrument Technician to work with them on a permanent basis, Monday-Friday, day shift.
About the Role:
The post holder will provide day-to-day engineering support services to assets at the site, working with minimal supervision as part of a team of operations, instrument, electrical, and mechanical personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
* To undertake daily instrument technician core role activities, including breakdown and preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of Instrument equipment.
* To interact with the maintenance coordination team, discipline engineers, and operations technicians to be advised of and understand daily plant issues, then deliver solutions.
* To work with permit signatories daily to discuss and prepare permit requests, method statements, and risk assessments.
* To regularly liaise with other trade disciplines and supervisors for scaffolding and lagging when required to support specific jobs, often necessitating coordination of their work and permit requirements.
* To become conversant within the permit system.
* To carry out enabling isolations on the sites Instrument systems.
* To fault-find following equipment failure, identifying problems and resolving them within a specified timescale while minimising costs.
* To be competent in the operation, maintenance, and installation of Instrument systems in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.
* To work within the Control of Work system and accompanying Site Safety Orders.
* To supervise and facilitate people and work where required.
Requirements:
* A minimum of a recognised apprenticeship and NVQ3 or equivalent.
* ONC (HNC preferred).
* CompEX modules 01 – 04 certificate.
* BS7671 (current edition) IET Requirements for Electrical Installation certificate preferred.
* Familiarity with SAP PM model.
* Sound IT skills.
* Working knowledge of Temperature, Pressure, Flow, and Level systems.
* Knowledge of DCS, PLC, and emergency shutdown systems.
Estimated salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum.
