Job Description
You will be expected to work directly with team members in the legal team and wider business within the UK and Europe and will be required to liaise with external lawyers as and when necessary, maintaining control over external budget spend.
You will report directly to the Legal Director to whom you will have access for support and guidance. However, you will be expected to manage your own workload and be self-sufficient on a day-to-day basis and will take instruction directly from business units as well as the Legal Director.
Some (but not all) of the following areas will form a significant part of your role:
1. Commercial contract drafting;
2. Drafting/ reviewing sales and marketing materials;
3. Commercial and consumer dispute resolution;
4. Commercial, consumer and Property Litigation;
5. Policy review and drafting;
6. Assisting with mergers, acquisitions, property sales and company dissolutions;
7. Licensing Applications;
8. Data Protection;
Of great importance is your ability to manage your time effectively, to be able to work autonomously, to achieve deadlines, and to be able to exercise sound commercial and legal judgment.
You must be confident in your ability to learn new skills and willing to develop expertise in areas of UK and European law with which you may not already be familiar. Training will be provided at the company’s cost to enable you to meet your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
You must be able to communicate effectively and be approachable and responsive. You must also have appropriate computer skills as no secretarial support is provided.
Working hours are 37 per week Monday to Friday. Flexibility can be offered as regards specific hours worked, but reciprocal flexibility may also be required from time to time dependent upon the needs of the business.
