ASD Teaching Assistant Information:
* For this position, you will need to be an experienced Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant who has worked with young pupils on the Autism spectrum.
* You will need a strong understanding of the autism spectrum and how to use specific IEPs to provide effective support to this pupil.
* You will have to be able to keep the pupil focused on their work and be aware of any particular triggers that may cause a behavioral reaction.
* Should there be a reaction, having a variety of de-escalating techniques to help control the pupil and the situation is essential.
* Working with SEN pupils has to be a passion, as every day will propose different obstacles for you to overcome.
* Although this is a challenging role, it is hugely rewarding; seeing a pupil progress under your guidance is uplifting and makes all the tough times worthwhile.
