Job Description:
The Environmental Advisor promotes and provides professional expert knowledge and guidance to managers, supervisors, employees and contractors on environmental work practices, safety standards, and legal regulations. The advisor supports the identification and elimination of potential risks, hazards/non-compliances, and ensures control measures are in place as per local legal and permit requirements. An Environmental Advisor is expected to liaise with and support the Project QHSE Director/Manager, Package/Construction Managers, and Client Representatives to ensure good levels of Environmental cooperation are maintained and information where lessons can be learned are shared throughout the project and wider organisation. The Environmental Advisor will use a risk-based approach to the protection of the environment, including CLIENT assets and reputation, and follow the statutory requirements in terms of environmental reporting defined in local legislation.
The role is based in the Leba area at the onshore construction office (under construction) and will require site visits to various locations including construction sites near Leba and cable landfall sites. However, flexibility is required for occasional off project site visits for company and supplier internal/external meetings, which may also be overseas.
Applicants are preferred to be local and live within 60 minutes travel time of the site/base location. Travel expenses to the base location are not expensed by CLIENT.
Deliverables:
1. Creation and monitoring of the Project Environmental Management Plan, Waste Management Plan, Aspect and Impact Register, and similar environmental management plans.
2. Monthly and annual internal and statutory environmental reporting, including waste management and emissions to the environment.
3. Create and deliver specific environmental training for the Project personnel.
4. Ensure that environmental risk controls and processes are implemented and effective, and report on improvement opportunities.
5. Deliver monthly E reporting to Project QHSE Director as well as Statutory Site Manager when relevant.
Responsibilities:
1. Support Project risk owners in managing environmental risks, reducing them to as low as reasonably practicable.
2. Monitor and assess project environmental performance including processes described in project documents relating to environmental aspects and report any areas of concern.
3. Participate actively in continual improvement of protecting the environment and business performance in the project.
4. Enhance environmental awareness across the project.
5. Be the focal point of contact for Local Authorities and other key stakeholders in relation to environmental matters on the project.
6. Timely and accurate submission of all legally binding environmental reports and data to authorities.
7. Ensure formal and legal compliance of all aspects of the project's environmental management system with applicable regulations.
8. Oversee Contractors' actions and behaviours on sites regarding environmental aspects resulting from obtained permits, legal requirements, and prepared project documentation.
9. General oversight of archaeological aspects on site.
10. Act as an environmental protection specialist responsible for development and application of a rapid response procedure in emergency situations (e.g., contamination of sea waters with oil substances from transformers and vessels) at the offshore wind farm and training of persons participating in rescue of animals in contact with oil-contaminated waters.

Typical Tasks (not exhaustive):
1. Implementation and supervision of the environmental management system at the Project site, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 by creating, implementing, and updating procedures and environmental instructions, adapted to the project specifics.
2. Conducting internal audits to monitor compliance of activities with both internal and external environmental requirements and identifying potential areas for improvement.
3. Preparing audit reports and conclusions from their conduct, as well as recommendations for management staff.
4. Developing appropriate internal and external reporting formats and periodical reporting.
5. Waste management at designated sites and reporting in accordance with the Waste Act and waste reporting requirements.
6. Identification and classification of waste generated at the construction site, in accordance with applicable regulations.
7. Monitoring contractors' waste management procedures.
8. Development and implementation of waste management plan for the construction site and revising the contractors' waste management plans.
9. Maintaining waste records in the online waste management system (Pol. BDO), including quantities, types, and methods of waste processing of the waste produced by CLIENT at the sites.
10. Supervision of compliance of waste storage and transport arrangements implemented both by CLIENT and contractors with regulations and cooperation with companies dealing with waste collection.
11. Preparation of annual reports on waste management and submission to the appropriate office.
12. Reviewing the reports prepared by contractors.
13. Control and reporting of pollutant emissions produced by CLIENT in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act and related legislation and revising the reporting done by contractors.
14. Monitoring the level of gas and dust emissions generated during construction work, taking into account environmental standards.
15. Maintaining the required emission records and reporting them to National Centre for Emission Balancing and Management (Pol. KOBiZE), including preparing annual emission reports.
16. Implementing actions to minimize emissions on the Project (e.g., dust reduction) and monitoring the effectiveness of these actions.
17. Preparing reports on the level of emissions and corrective actions and cooperating with KOBiZE on reporting requirements. Reviewing contractors' performance in that area.
18. Environmental resources management and minimizing environmental impact.
19. Monitoring the consumption of energy, water, and other natural resources within the construction project and identifying opportunities for their optimization.
20. Initiating actions to reduce resource consumption and strictly controlling processes that generate the greatest consumption.
21. Implementing selective collection programs for secondary raw materials on the construction site, e.g., waste segregation.
22. Employee training and education.
23. Organizing training for construction workers on environmental protection principles, waste management, and minimizing environmental impact.
24. Developing information materials and brochures for workers on ecological practices and regulations applicable within the project.
25. Conducting periodic meetings aimed at raising ecological awareness and discussing current environmental challenges.
26. Monitoring and responding to environmental hazards and risks.
27. Systematic assessment of environmental risk at the stage of construction project implementation and implementation of emergency response procedures.
28. Implementation of activities that minimize the risk of negative impact on the environment, e.g., appropriate protection of waste storage sites.
29. Reporting and documenting incidents and analysis of their causes and effects in order to prevent their recurrence as well as taking part in contractors' incidents investigations.
30. Cooperation with local authorities and documentation management.
