Job summary We are inviting applicants to apply for the Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at Ipswich Hospital. The successful candidate will work with the 8 consultants in the Spinal Unit at Ipswich Hospital. The post would be ideally suited to an orthopaedic or Neurosurgical trainee towards the end of their training with a specialist interest in spinal surgery techniques and complex spinal reconstruction. Any on call work carries additional remuneration. This is post is for period of 12 months, extendable to 18 to 24 depending on needs, performance and availability. Main duties of the job The post offers experience in all aspects of spinal surgery except paediatric deformity & intradural work. The Spine Fellow will have the opportunity to be involved in the spinal on call service, regular day case procedures, out-patient clinics, in-patient operating lists and regular research sessions. The Spine Fellow will be responsible for regular review of the ward patients and coordinating the admission of spinal emergencies from surrounding hospitals.
