The Pre op role is front of house and the Receptionist is the first staff member the patients, carers and families meet in the department. The Receptionist is the hub of the department and central to the seamless working of the unit.
Meet and greet patients as they arrive.
Attending and outcoming their visit.
Informing booked Admissions of any patients who cancelled their appointments or did not attend their appointment
Tracking notes in and out in a timely manner to ensure notes arrive to the wards in time for surgery.
Printing off results in an organised timely way to ensure the nursing team result report efficiently.
Preparing the next days and days ahead clinics
Answering queries via unit email and telephone and escalating to nurse in charge if required
Using PAS, Searcher, ICE reporting, Evolve & iFIT
Ensuring the Anaesthetic notes reviews are in date order of admission
Chaining appointments, booking appointments, opening and closing clinics
Alert staff of any patient concerns and ensure patients are not kept waiting beyond their time in the department
