Description
The post holder will have teaching responsibility for the LEAP (Entry level 3 / Level 1) Design & Production programme. Students on this programme require highly individualised approaches to their learning both in and out of the classroom. The tutor for this post will also have responsibility for supporting students to run the college print shop and in ordering stock to produce items for clients both internally and externally. The tutor will write and deliver a number of units that cover a wide range of design and employability-based skills to support learners on their journey towards employment.
Hours: 36 Hours per week / 39 Weeks per year (Full Time)
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until April 2026
Salary: £27,198.90 - £31,469.49 p.a. (T4 - T7) within the QAC Q1 banded pay scale. The level is determined by job role requirements/the enclosed criteria.
Key Responsibilities
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (Q1):
1. Deliver, plan, and assess the curriculum in an innovative, responsible, and flexible manner using a highly individualised approach in collaboration with the Line Manager, ensuring the Intent, Implementation, and Impact is clear.
2. Plan, assess, and record the individual achievements of each learner against EHCP Plans, individual targets, and in accordance with the college’s quality processes and funding agency criteria (where applicable).
3. Deliver quality teaching and learning in line with professional standards and tailored to individual learner needs grounded in an informed understanding of their EHCP, goals after QAC, and other assessments.
4. Prepare schemes of work and differentiated lesson planning to clarify the purpose and intent of the taught sessions.
5. Support and teach students through the design process from start to finish including the use of printing equipment and computer software.
6. Lead sessions in accordance with good practice in terms of timed, scaffolded, and sequenced learning that ensures lesson objectives are implemented and students’ progress can be checked.
7. Ensure assessments include appropriate means of feedback and feedforward; and progress recorded and shared with learners in a timely manner.
8. Contribute to the development of the curriculum through preparation, research, liaison with colleagues and relevant external agencies, and management of resources.
9. Help run and support students in running the college print shop, ensuring it is student-focused and complies with all relevant standards.
10. Evaluate the quality and success of the curriculum and implement into the curriculum quality improvement plan and self-assessment report.
11. Participate in the PHSE curriculum and pastoral welfare of learners, specifically as a group tutor and personal tutor.
12. Plan, assess, and deliver course content in areas such as Employability, PSHE, Preparation for Adulthood, or other similar provisions.
13. Prepare lesson resources tailored to individual needs and include a variety of stimulating means to maximize engagement.
14. Work with the college Transitions, Community Services team, and/or other external agencies to support the students during and after college.
15. Promote the aims and ethos of the College within the teaching and learning context.
16. Participate in staff training and development within the requirements of the College’s programmes and priorities.
17. Engage in any individual or collaborative research and consultative work agreed by senior management.
18. Contribute on an occasional and voluntary basis to the corporate life of the College.
19. Perform such other duties as are commensurate with the status and nature of the post.
